Important Coronavirus Update 6th January 2021

We have spent the last 24 hours having a detailed read through the restrictions and had a really good think about what feels like the right thing to do. We have landed on the plan laid out below.

Within our operational changes we want to acknowledge that there is clearly a significantly increased risk of spread at the moment, but also that we have many customers who use our services for their daily exercise and to keep themselves well and motivated through what, for many, will be a really challenging time. Through all the previous lockdowns and tier changes we have been contacted and messaged by customers who hope that we will do what we can to stay open and where we know we can legally do this and that it is safe we have found a way.

We also currently provide services to children who due to their circumstances will most likely still be attending school. They use Pedal Progression to get their mountain bike fix and this keeps them going through the week. There is very little that these kids can do at the moment and we have the ability to provide a service that brings something really positive to their day.

We have learnt a lot about operating safely over the last 10 months, this involves lots of cleaning, a truck load of alcohol and careful customer management. The changes we are making to our service will significantly reduce the chances of bottlenecks and congestion in our service delivery, which in turn will further minimise the likelihood that customers will come into contact with each other and reduce the time that they will be in contact with our staff.

Here are the main points:

  • From Thursday 7th January our hire centre will only be open Thursday to Sunday but running the same opening hours on those days.
  • Pre-booking, as always, is essential.
  • We will be operating a reduced fleet size to minimise any congestion.
  • Customers may be contacted to bring forward or push back their booking by 10 to 20 mins to avoid people arriving at the same time.
  • We will continue to fully sanitise the bikes and equipment with alcohol before and after every use.
  • We will continue to operate coaching on a 1-2-1 basis. If you have a slot booked with us we will be in touch. If you would prefer not to go ahead we will reschedule your booking.
  • If you already have a hire bike booked with us but no longer want to come you do not need to let us know. We will be in contact with you to reschedule when we are fully re-open. For those still to make a booking, our standard T&C’s apply.
  • Our shop will be open for sales but we will come out to you. There are to be no customers in the shop.We are operating in compliance with all guidance and laws.

We are operating in compliance with all guidance and laws. Our processes continue to go above and beyond what is considered to be acceptable in comparable retail, repair, hospitality and hire settings. When considering making a trip to Ashton Court please bear in mind that parking is likely to continue to be very busy. Walk or ride to us if you can. If you are driving, arrive in good time before your hire slot to give yourself time to park. There is on street parking 10 mins walk from us across the road in Leigh Woods (Church Rd, Vicarage Rd and Bannerleigh Rd are best, avoid parking on North Road at the A369 end – there is normally plenty of parking at the bridge end)

We would like to thank all our customers for their ongoing support at this time and can not wait to get a massive group ride together as soon as it is possible!

Ride safe…
