Mark ‘Smudge’ Smith



Smudge joined the team in February 2019, coming from an outdoor education/instructor background. He first took to a mountain bike at the age of 16 and has been riding ever since. Smudge enjoys everything that mountain biking has to offer, from night riding on the Mendip Hills to the flowing descents of the combes on the Quantocks. His own favourite rides tend to be all day epics and invariable involve stunning scenery! Smudge has been lucky enough to ride all over the country from Dartmoor to the Peak District.

Smudge has a wealth of experience and knowledge to offer and will be assisting Ollie with the Little Rippers youth program. He has experience of working will children of all ages and enjoy’s getting them into the outdoors to discover all the benefits it has to offer. When Smudge is not in store or on the trails at Ashton Court trails he can be found windsurfing, paddle boarding or exploring the South West with his own young family.

– DBS checked
– Activity First Aid Qualified
– Child Protection Trained


Essential pre-ride preparations:
Has to be a flat white and some banana malt loaf

One thing I couldn’t do without: 

If I’m not on a bike: 
I’m usually windsurfing

Favourite place to ride: 
I have to mention the Mendip Hills as they are on my doorstep, further a field…. The Quantocks! And when I am visiting family the Lincolnshire Wolds

Favourite riding snack: 
Mixed nuts and raisins… And definitely a bag of Haribo!
