Mountain Biking For Schools

With extreme sports growing in popularity and media attention, many young people are less interested in the classic ‘school sports’ and are looking for new challenge. With qualified instructors and a fleet of high quality and well maintained hire bikes, Pedal Progression are set to lead PE lessons to a syllabus or purely just for fun!

Mountain biking provides a great discipline for young people. In owning bikes as children, we learned how to look after what we had, to budget money for breakages and to fix the bike when it went wrong. Riding mountain bikes taught us to know limits, push them, love adrenaline and challenge ourselves to be better and stronger. Not only that, we had a great time doing it!

We believe that nothing has changed and that mountain biking is the most fun way to push yourself on your own and in the company of friends.

Pedal Progression have a history of boosting grades of struggling students that find a new motivation being out in the woods on a bike.

“In 2014 we had 10 pupils wanting to try mountain biking as part of there GCSE PE course. At first this seemed a challenge, but once we spoke to Pedal Progression, all was sorted. The professionalism of the team at Pedal Progression was excellent from the start. They quickly organised dates and equipment for myself and my pupils and they were adaptable to unforeseen changes. Most importantly they kept an open dialogue with me each week before the ride day to ensure the pupils were covering the correct skills and techniques required to fulfill their GCSE criteria. This along with their open and friendly approach allowed all the pupils to OVER achieve their predicted grades. A massive thank you to Matt and his team for all your work. We look forward to working with you again this year.”

We can run sessions of skills coaching, guided riding, rider assessment or a mixture of these depending on your needs. We operate on a ratio of 8 riders to 1 instructor. More than one instructor can be arranged and we can tailor sessions over multiple days to suit your needs. Each instructor costs £35 per hour and there is a surcharge of £4 per hour for each person who brings their own bike instead of hiring a bike from us.

Use of our hire bikes is charged at the normal rate which can be seen here. We can lead groups for a maximum of 6 hours. We need to know the heights of people in your group so we can be certain we have the correct size bikes for everyone.
