We’ve had our 2019 Marin Bobcat Trail 5’s in our hire fleet for a while now. They have a few subtle changes over last years bikes but we love them and if you haven’t tried them already, we think you’ll love them too!

For a start, don’t they look great!? Classic colours in the black and grey with orange accents here and there.

Shimano have uprated their brake levers this year for more bite and a better feel. We’ve also switched over the standard grips to an upgraded lock on grip, meaning they won’t slip on the handlebars in wet weather.

For 2019, the Bobcat 5 gets 780mm wide handlebars and 45mm long stems, making for precision handling and loads of confidence when navigating turns.

Tyres are provided by VeeRubberCo. The high volume 2.25 width Trail Taker provides loads of grip on the small and medium (27.5) bikes while the large, extra large and double xl bikes get a 2.30 Crown Gem to keep you in control. Arguably these tires are better suited to the trails in Ashton Court & Leigh Woods, over last years Schwalbes.

Once again Rock Shox XC30 forks take the hits and due to brilliant factory error, the small and medium bikes are supplied with a 120mm travel fork instead of 100mm! That means a slacker head angle and more fun! Note: Only our small and medium bikes have 120mm. All the others are 100mm as is specced from Marin.

1×10 gearing is on point again from Shimano giving you all the gears you need without the faff you don’t! Each of our bikes is supplied with a good quality flat pedal, however spd pedals are available for an extra charge.

Right now (January 2019), we still have some of last years bikes available to buy. Please get in touch if you’d be interested in one. Our hire bikes are checked after every ride and are serviced weekly. We strip and service them before selling them, replacing parts where needed. You don’t get that buying on eBay do you!? £450 each.
