Bristol Shredfest Is Coming, And You’re Going to Want to Be There
Saturday 11th July 2026 | Ashton Court Estate | Free to attend
Right, let’s talk about the most exciting thing happening in Bristol this summer. Because a brand new mountain bike festival is landing at Ashton Court in July, and honestly? It looks like an absolute belter.
Bristol Shredfest is a full-day mountain bike festival run by the brilliant people at Ride Bristol and Bristol Shredders. It’s free to walk through the gates, there’s food, there’s a bar, there are bikes everywhere, and there’s something on for literally everyone, from tiny humans who’ve never been on a trail bike to seasoned shredders who’ve been riding Bristol’s roots and rocks for years.
We’re involved too, and we couldn’t be more hyped about it.
So What’s Actually On?
Loads. Here’s the rundown:
The Shredfest Classic
A 35km adventure ride taking in some of Bristol’s most beloved riding spots. Old-school vibes, good mates, great trails. If you fancy a big day out on the bike without it being a race, this is your jam.
The Shredfest Triple Crown
Three timed stages around Ashton Court. It’s competitive, but not in a take-yourself-too-seriously way, the organisers have been pretty clear that smiles matter as much as fast times. Which is exactly the kind of event we can get behind.
Intro to MTB Beginner’s Ride – with Bike Hire from Us!
Yes, this one’s close to our hearts. If you’ve always fancied giving mountain biking a go but don’t own a bike (or aren’t sure it’s for you yet), this is the perfect entry point. We’re providing bike hire so you can roll up, get kitted out, and head out on a proper beginner’s ride in a friendly, no-pressure environment. No experience needed. No judgement. Just good times on trails.
Kid’s Shredquest Challenge
Send your little ones off on a checkpoint-hunting adventure around Ashton Court. Think orienteering, but make it bikes and chaos. They’ll love it.
Mini Trail Dig
This one’s ace. Young riders get to try their hand at actual trail building, the same kind of work that Ride Bristol volunteers do to keep Bristol’s trails in such good nick. It’s hands-on, muddy, and genuinely useful.
Bike Clothing Jumble Sale
Got old MTB kit gathering dust? Donate it. It’ll be sold on the day to raise money for good causes, with any leftovers going to Alpkit’s Continuum Foundation. Sustainable, community-minded, and a great excuse to have a clearout.
Please donate any kit by clearly labeling it “shredfest” and dropping it into Alpkit on Whiteladies Road, or simply bring along on the day.
The Festival Bit
Even if you’re not riding, there’s plenty of reason to come down. The festival site will have:
- Food and drink from local vendors
- A licensed bar with Left Handed Giant beers and Branch Cider
- Demo bikes to try
- Exhibitor stands from across the cycling world
- Free Avon and Somerset Police bike marking
- A massive fundraising raffle with prizes from cycling and outdoor brands
Bring the whole family, park up, and make a day of it.
Why Does It Exist?
Ashton Court already has one of Bristol’s best trail networks, and Bristol’s MTB community is genuinely something special, welcoming, daft in the best way, and always keen to bring more people in. Shredfest is basically a celebration of all that, wrapped up into one big Saturday.
The money raised goes back into Ride Bristol and Bristol Shredders, funding trail maintenance, helping more young people get into the sport, and keeping Bristol’s riding scene thriving. So every ticket bought, every raffle entry, every pint of Left Handed Giant, it all goes somewhere worthwhile.
Tickets and Info
General admission is completely free. Just turn up.
If you want to take part in the organised activities — the Classic, Triple Crown, Shredquest, beginner’s ride, trail dig – you’ll need a ticket. They’re on sale now, and they won’t hang around.
Get your tickets at shredfest.ridebristol.org
See you at Ashton Court on the 11th. We’ll be the ones with the bikes.
