Bike Check: New Whyte Hire Bikes 2020

In March, our Ashton Court shop was broken into and over half of our bikes were taken. We promised ourselves we’d come back stronger. We quickly made the decision not only to replace the stolen bikes but to start a new chapter. Welcome Whyte and their awesome 801 and 802C hardtails. Our new choice of hire bikes!

This year we have two slightly different fitting bikes, with identical specifications. It’s not a simple his and hers, the 802 is designed for people with shorter proportions boasting a shorter top tube and slightly narrower handlebars. Both bikes look stunning and with their slack, up to date trail geometry are singletrack slayers!

We’re pleased to see RockShox back on our bikes this year, with a well performing 120mm travel bolt thru Recon suspension fork.

Shimano 1x 10 gears are smooth and reliable for getting you round the trails.

Both the 801 and 802 have short 40mm stems for nimble handling.

The 801 is fitted with a 760mm wide bar and the 802 720mm. Tektro hydraulic disc brakes are powerful.

Again, we’ve fitted Pedal Progression custom mudguards to all the bikes, protecting your face from mud and dirt in the Winter months.

Grippy Nukeproof Neutron pedals come fitted to all bikes, with Shimano spd’s available on request.

There are lots of lovely little details on these bikes! We think the seat clamps are super cool! Internal cable routing keeps the bikes looking tidy too.

Which do you prefer the look of? The 801 in grey and orange…?

Or the 802 in the garish pink!?

The 2020 Whyte bikes will be available to rent from 23rd May. Click here to book your hire bike now!
